The internet pretty much broke on Tuesday when Blink 182 announced that Tom DeLonge had rejoined the band and there was a new record and a world tour coming in the very near future.

Now they’re going to do the exact same thing with their first new single with Tom for ten years ‘Edging’. The video hasn’t dropped yet but the audio leaked last night so take a listen to it below:
Well what do we think about that then? I wasn’t that impressed on my first listen but I gave it a few more chances and it’s pretty catchy and boppy after a few goes.
Travis isn’t messing about too much on the drums either for once which is refreshing although he still uses those dumb flange effects which are really annoying. It also seems like they’re doing that dumb rhyming/nursery rhyme way of writing songs again that they’ve used on the last couple of albums with Skiba but I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing because it’s definitely the best way to get a song stuck in your head.
Don’t really have a clue what they’re talking about lyrically – just seems like a bunch of random phrases thrown together that sound kinda cool – but again that isn’t really a problem. Ultimately it’s just really cool to hear Tom DeLonge back on a Blink 182 record and see that they’re all talking together and friends again.
Make the most of it because it’ll probably only last about a year though before Tom gets annoyed and goes off to hunt aliens full time. Until then.
For more of the same, check out Blink 182 playing the worst headline set in the history of Reading Festival. Hopefully this world tour is a bit better than that.
