I guess losing your voice is inevitable when you’re singing to thousands of people a million night in a row, but calling yourself the Weeknd and losing your voice on a Saturday night? Brutal stuff.

It’s the 70,000 people who turned up for a 10-minute concert you really have to feel sorry for though. Some of them probably hadn’t even made it into the arena yet before the Weeknd decided to call it a night. Fair play to him for offering everyone a full refund, but what about those who flew in or drove miles and miles to get there? Hotels, petrol, air/train fares, not to mention all that time wasted. The Weeknd did say he loves them though, so it’s not all bad.

As for Mr. Weeknd, I guess there’s not much he can do since he lost his voice and all. If anything it’s pretty reassuring that they cancelled the concert because he lost his voice and not because the autotune machine broke. He could’ve just lip-synced the rest of the night away and 70,000 people would have been none the wiser!
