If you’re in the habit of checking your Facebook account when you wake up, then you were probably in for a surprise when you arose this morning and instead of seeing the usual banal comments from your families and friends and in groups you were following, you were instead met with loads of weirdoes posting memes on celebrity pages instead.

For me personally, it was a load of people posting weird messages to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, although it seems like others were seeing strange posts to people like Eminem, Taylor Swift, Vin Diesel, Rihanna and Shakira. Get a load of these:

Lol. Thankfully I had enough internet nouse about me to realise that I hadn’t been hacked and just checked Down Detector and Twitter to find out if there was a problem. Turns out that over 3000 people had reported a problem to Down Detector with everything peaking at around 8am this morning.

Facebook also released the following statement trying to reassure people:

We’re aware that some people are having trouble with their Facebook Feed.

We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience.

To be fair to them, in the time it’s taken me to write this article they’ve managed to sort out my feed. So if you’re still worried about it maybe just sit tight and let them work their magic. Or better yet make sure you scroll down a bit and have a laugh at all the strange and sad freaks posting weird messages to their favourite celebrities who will never get a reply. There really are some sad people out there.
