Sleepwalking and talking in your sleep are very serious problems for some people, but I don’t think they’re anywhere near as bad as this guy who cut off his own penis whilst dreaming that he was chopping meat. That’s a really major accident.

47 year old Kofi Atta is a farmer from Assin Fosum in south Ghana and suffered the critical injuries after falling asleep on the night of August 12th. He was dreaming about slaughtering a goat but woke up to discover that both his penis and his scrotum had been severed from his body. Hell of a hangover.

Here’s what he told BBC Pidgin:

I dey sit inside chair wey I doze off, so as I dey sleep I dream say I dey cut meat wey dey in front of me.

Right now I dey hospital for here, all dem dey give me be fluids den some injections but I dey need surgery.

I no get money to fuel ambulance wey go carry me go Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for surgery.

I no remember how I carry de knife, even me I dey confused.

Geez that’s like reading an Irvine Welsh novel isn’t it? I can pretty much get the gist of it though – seems like his injuries aren’t life threatening but he’ll probably need surgery to reattach his manhood. Hopefully he manages to raise the funds.

As for the circumstances behind the incident, I’m not quite sure if I believe them? Seems kinda out there for someone to dream about slaughtering a goat and then ‘accidentally’ cut their dick off instead.

Maybe something more fishy was going on there? Wouldn’t be surprised if a spurned lover cut his dick off and he made up this story to hide the truth from his wife. Just saying.
