I hadn’t even heard the name Andrew Tate until about three weeks ago but now it seems like everyone is talking about him due to his misogynistic and hateful views about women – and it seems like the big platforms are listening.

Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube have all deplatformed Tate in the past couple of weeks after people started speaking out about his problematic views. Tate isn’t taking it lying down though, issuing the following statement via Yahoo! News:

There is a running contradiction in today’s society where men are encouraged to speak and be open/honest with how they feel but are generally met with a negative response to their truth.
Banning Andrew Tate from these platforms might seem the answer, but it isn’t that simple.
Removing Tate’s voice doesn’t allow for a kinder hate-free society.
I suppose he does kind of a have a point there, but I don’t think that promoting rape culture and whatever the hell else Tate is saying about women is leading to ‘a kinder hate-free society’ either. Do you?
Tate has also claimed that he was just ‘playing a charcacter’ and that he had donated over a million dollars to charities supporting women over the past couple of weeks, but I don’t really think that anyone believes him do they? If anything the timing is a little suspect isn’t it?
Anyway, despite being taken off most of the famous social media sites, I doubt that this will be the last we hear of Tate. There are so many under the radar sites/podcasts/whatever out there that people like Tate can share their gross views with other incels or alpha males or whoever else identifies with them fairly easily.
It’s a scary time when there’s so much misogyny out there, but at least the major platforms are trying to do something about it. Hopefully it’s enough.
