Florida rapper Rollie Bands has been shot and killed outside his home moments after posting a message on Instagram sharing his location and daring his enemies to turn up and meet him: “If a n***a want smoke pull up I’m at my crib in 5 minutes”.
Unfortunately for the Tampa native, the enemies in question took him up on his offer and he was shot in the carpark of his apartment complex. As per Fox 13, Bands was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries, and police are now searching for suspects.
RIP to this young man but I can’t help but be reminded of the old ‘When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong’ skits from the Chappelle show. This lad manifested his own murder by sharing his location on the internet and inviting his rivals to come and challenge him on his doorstep. Literally spoke/typed it into existence! They were probably waiting for him to slip up and couldn’t believe how easy he made it for them.
And for what? A bit of street cred? To prove he’s invincible? Well I guess Rollie Bands is indeed as real as they come but unfortunately he’s also left behind his friends and family over some mindless rap beef. Here’s hoping there are other young men out there who will learn from his mistakes.
