A racehorse named Drag Malibu has been stripped of a first-place finish after testing positive for meth in Des Moines, Iowa, reports KCCI News.

The horse was high on meth during the May 29 race which clearly gave it the advantage over the horses that weren’t off their faces on meth.

Brian Ohorilko from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission confirmed:

“The horse had trace amounts of methamphetamine in his body when the horse ran in the race.”

You’re probably wondering how a horse managed to smoke meth in the first place, but it turns out a groom named Jason Brooks who is responsible for looking after Drag Malibu also tested positive for meth. He must’ve put his hands on a tongue tie, which was then put on the horse! The result: Drag Malibu somehow ingested the meth and absolutely dominated the race.

So the good news is that Drag Malibu isn’t actually a junkie taking hits of meth to gain a competitive advantage before races, and as such race officials have cleared the horse to continue competing, although it will go on a “must pass a Commission-approved exam” list.

The owner was suspended for 15 days and fined $1,000 for his groom’s actions. Naturally, he fired the groom. Fair enough really.

For the teen who ate her own horse after it was put down and says it was the ‘best meat ever’, click HERE. Controversial!
