I think that most of us probably think of elephants as fairly cute animals that we can probably play around with and have a good time, but the reality is that they’re dangerous predators and end up killing between 100-300 of us every year.

The latest one of these was a woman name Maya Murmu over in the village of Raipal in Eastern India. She died from her injuries on Thursday and her body was subsequently placed on a funeral pyre, but the elephant must have been able to smell her or something because he returned once again to trample on her corpse as her family performed the last rites. Definitely the kind of animal that you don’t want gatecrashing your funeral.

Thankfully even though Murmu’s corpse was trampled, the elephant did eventually stomp off somewhere else and the family was able to continue with the funeral. It’s being reported that the animal was an escapee from the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary in Mayurbhanj, which is around 200km away from Raipal. Hopefully he’s not still out there in the wild as he sounds like quite an out of control vengeful bastard. RIP Maya Murmu.
