Even if you didn’t tune into the Jubilee celebrations over the weekend, I’m sure everyone reading this will have enjoyed having a couple of extra days off going into June, so if like me you were off doing something worthwhile instead of celebrating the Queen then you might have missed this weird speech from Prince Charles.

As was expected during the Platinum Jubilee, Prince Charles decided to honour his mother and delivered a speech where he talked about her achievements and duty and also decided to call her ‘Mummy’ – which a few people have pointed out sounds very creepy and weird for a 73 year old man to be saying. Granted, most 73 year old’s mothers probably aren’t alive so there isn’t that much opportunity for them to say it, but even so it’s still a bit strange for anyone over the age of about eight to say ‘Mummy’.
Twitter predictably ripped Prince Charles to shreds, especially when he repeated the word in a written tribute to his mother as well:

Yeah I think I’ve kinda gotta agree with all that because it is just so weird to hear a grown adult say that and just automatically gives me the ick when I hear it. Some people out there might think it’s cute and endearing, but I’m sorry you’re just wrong. It’s gross.
