I never really know what to think about ‘Avatar’ because on the one hand I’m pretty sure it was a billion dollar movie – wait a quick Google tells me it’s the highest grossing move of all time – and completely revolutionised cinema with its computer graphics or whatever, but on the other hand I don’t think I actually know anyone who’s seen it and nobody ever talks about it ever – it’s almost like it never happened.

That might be all set to change though with the news that the first of the ‘Avatar’ sequels – that James Cameron has seemingly been working on for years – is set to be released this Christmas and the trailer has finally made its way onto the internet today. I guess you’ve clicked on this article so probably want to see it, but let me tell you that you don’t really need to get too hyped up about it because it’s pretty much exactly what you would expect it to be:
Errr? So that’s what people have been waiting almost a decade and a half for? Colour me underwhelmed but it just seems like a bunch of annoying looking aliens attacking each other and flying around or swimming around. I’m sure it will make at least three billion dollars, no worries.
If you’re still not convinced, then Zoe Saldana – who plays female alien Neytiri – said that when she saw a cut of the movie late last year that she cried for 20 minutes and that it was definitely a step up from Avatar 1. Sounds emotional.
If like me though, you think that ‘Avatar’ is going to be really annoying, you’ll be pleased to hear that there are going to be at least four more movies before the conclusion of the series. Joy.
For more of the same, check out when James Cameron re-released ‘Avatar’ in China so he could reclaim the crown of highest grossing movie ever. Petty.
