So Amy Schumer was originally cast to play the role of Barbie in The Barbie Movie, but there were ‘creative differences’ and she was replaced by Margot Robbie. I’m not sure how the producers went from Amy Schumer as their #1 choice to Margot f*cking Robbie, but it’s basically the biggest upgrade in the history of the world, unless Brad Pitt replaced Dean Gaffney in a film somewhere.
Which makes you wonder what kind of film The Barbie Movie is going to be? We all saw those Margot Robbie scenes in Wolf of Wall Street. But now she’s playing Barbie – a toy. Is it wrong to sexualise a toy? I would think so… but then again, maybe not? I’m just saying you can’t cast Margot Robbie as Barbie and not end up with a hot Barbie. Which makes it even weirder that they went for Amy Schumer in the first place. Oh well, I’m sure a lot more people will watch it now in any case…
