Another day, another take on the Will Smith/Chris Rock slap situation but this one is actually kinda important as it comes from one of the people directly involved in the altercation: Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Everyone knows that it was Jada seemingly rolling her eyes at Chris Rock’s G.I. Jane joke that caused Will to snap and storm onstage to confront Rock, but it seems like even she thinks that this was a bit of an overreaction. She hasn’t come out and said anything herself, but an ‘inside source’ (whatever that means) has said the following in Us Weekly:

“It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting. He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly about where the couple stands now.

“She’s not one of these women that needs protecting. He didn’t need to do what he did, she didn’t need protecting. She’s not a wallflower,” the source shared. “She’s a strong woman, an opinionated woman and she can fight her own battles. But she will stand by him.”

Damn. That really doesn’t sound that good for Will Smith does it? Not only have loads of his projects been delayed/suspended and most of the world thinks that he’s an asshole, but it didn’t even get him any kudos at home with his wife who is already famous for treating him like a doormat and sleeping with whoever she wants. What a way to categorically ruin what should have been one of the best moments of his life.
