I’m fairly certain that nobody ever expects to see celebrities of any level when they visit their local Wetherspoons, so imagine how crazy it must have been for the people of Dereham – which is apparently somewhere in Norfolk – when John Travolta walked in to have a quiet pint.

It’s believed that Travolta is currently filming a project called ‘Paradise City’ in the region and that’s why he’s been spotted out and about in the area, not only at Wetherspoons but also at the Morrisons in Fakenham. Here’s what security guard Gary Middleton had to say about his encounter with the Hollywood A lister:

I didn’t even go up to him.

He just came up to me and shook my hand. We had a really nice chat.

When I put it on my Facebook everyone said I was mucking around and they didn’t believe it was true but it was.

You can kind of understand why people wouldn’t think it was true but Gary has the pictures to prove it now so you can’t exactly deny it. I’m not sure about his story though – why the hell would John Travolta just go up to him and shake his hand? Surely the guy has better things do with his time then actively go up to fans and engage in conversation with them? I’m not buying it.

Anyway, even if that bit isn’t true, you can’t argue with the fact that John Travolta is in Norfolk and seems to be having a fun time getting his picture taken with the locals and talking to them. I guess if you live in one of these little towns in Norfolk keep your ear to the ground because you just might run into him. Hopefully he turns up at Greggs or something in the next couple of days.
