There’s been a lot of negative stories, so here’s kind of a fun one to round the day off with as a weirdo from Florida has decided to make a fully functioning guitar out of his uncle’s skeleton. Metal AF.

The guy is known as Prince Midnight and he came up with the unusual idea after his Uncle Filip’s bones were shipped to him from his native Greece to Florida. Over in Greece, the orthodox religion frowns upon cremation so Uncle Filip had asked for his skeleton to be donated to a local college, but when they no longer needed it Prince Midnight wasn’t sure what he could do with it.

His family refused to cremate him and didn’t want to pay for expensive cemetery space, so Midnight decided to repatriate the bones – a long and complicated process apparently – and turn the guy into a guitar. Here’s what Prince Midnight said about his unusual decision:

So, I got the box of bones from Greece and didn’t know what to do at first. Bury them? Cremate them? Put them in the attic? All seemed like poor ways to memorialize someone who got me into heavy metal.

So, I decided to turn Uncle Filip into a guitar, which proved to be challenging. I did a lot of research and no one has ever made a guitar out of a skeleton. So, I did it. I started out consulting with two guys in Dean Guitars’ wood shop in Tampa but they got cold feet.

Anyways, now Uncle Filip can shred for all eternity. That’s how he would want it. I’m super proud of the project and how it serves to honor him, his life and his influence on me.

It plays perfect and sounds awesome.

Lol that guitar sounds like shit and he could have made a video of him playing something a little cooler than that. I guess it’s kind of hard to shred though when you’ve got a ribcage in the way of your shredding hand though

(Apparently it’s Darkthrone’s Transylvanian Thunder so maybe it’s supposed to sound like that, I dunno. It’s niche music.)

But anyway, not really sure how practical a skeleton is as a guitar to be honest, but I guess it’s kind of cool that this guy spent his time doing this? It’s unprecedented at least.

For more of the same, check out these life sized skeleton lamps that look kinda badass. Maybe he should have just made one of them instead?
