The whole hype/scandal around Cyberpunk 2077 seems to have died down now after the game was roundly panned upon its release for being majorly glitchy and not running properly on older consoles, but it still made a whole bunch of money for CD: Projekt Red – although the long term concerns over their company reputation may be more damaging in this scenario.

Anyway, the game hasn’t been in the headlines for the right reasons – or any reasons – for the past month or so, so it seems like the creators have had to come up with a highly shareable problem to get it back in there and this comes with their faux outrage at people creating mods so they can shag Keanu Reeves. Most people who are familiar with the game will know that Keanu Reeves plays a character called Johnny Silverhand and will also know that you can have sex with a variety of characters in the game.
Obviously, this means that a bunch of people have modded Keanu Reeves’ skin on some of the prostitutes in the game so they can simulate banging Keanu. Wild. Anyway, apparently CD: Projekt Red are a bit angry/worried about this and so have released the following statement asking people to stop doing it:

Our most important rule regarding user-generated content, game mods in particular, is that it can’t be harmful towards others.
In the case of model swaps, especially those that involve explicit situations, it can be perceived as such by the people who lent us their appearance for the purpose of creating characters in Cyberpunk 2077.
Therefore, when making fan content, creators have to make sure they’ve got permission from all the concerned parties (which might be people other than CD PROJEKT RED).
For the characters we’ve invented for the game, we broadly permit you to tweak the game at will and just have fun.
When it comes to models of real people whom we’ve asked to participate in the game, we kindly ask you to refrain from using them in any situation that might be found offensive if you don’t have their explicit permission.
In other words: When it comes to original character created for the game, yes, go crazy, you horny lot, but don’t pretend to shag characters that are based on real humans.
Fighting talk hey? It’s highly likely that they might ban the mod if this continues to happen, but do you really see anyone stopping doing this just because CD: ProjeKt Red told them to? Should probably just stop it happening now before more and more people shag Keanu Reeves and it causes everyone to short their stock or something.
To be honest though, I think this is just some agency headline generated to get more publicity for Cyberpunk because I can’t find a video of anyone shagging Keanu Reeves anywhere on Twitter or YouTube and you would think if it was such a problem they would be all over the place. Just saying.
