Very rarely do sequels live up to the original, but boy do I hope it happens with Wedding Crashers 2 now that Vince Vaughn has confirmed (kinda) that the movie is in the works.
The actor, 50, told Entertainment Tonight that both he and Owen Wilson want to reprise their characters from the 2005 classic:
Owen and I and the director of Crashers have been talking for the first time seriously [about] a sequel to that movie. So there has been an idea that is pretty good. So we are talking about that in the early stages.
Vaughn and Wilson played divorce mediators who made a pastime of crashing wedding receptions in order to meet women. The movie also starred Rachel McAdams, Isla Fisher and Bradley Cooper.
They were fun movies to make. It’s always fun to make people laugh and go to work with people that are funny.
Well that’s all we need to hear. As far as I’m concerned, “we have been talking seriously” means they’re good to go. Now all we have to do is wait out this pandemic (during which time I guess they can write the script), get an offer from a studio, and start filming. Let’s be honest – it probably won’t be as good as the original, but there’s still plenty of potential for it to be really good sequel. Which is saying a lot considering how most sequels pan out.
In the meantime, how about reminiscing on some of the classic scenes from the original Wedding Crashers? Like the American football scene…
The bedroom scene…
Everything Will Ferrell did…
There’s more but you may as well just watch the whole thing at this point. My only hope is that if this sequel does end up happening, they bring back the entire original cast. Christopher Walker, Isla Fisher, Rachel McAdams, Bradley Cooper, everyone. No half-measures. Just go all in and try do do the original justice. Make it happen!
