Last week we brought you a story about a priest who had a threesome with two dominatrixes on the altar in his church down in New Orleans, but we said that following the discovery the archbishop visited the church in order to reconsecrate the altar and it turns out that this isn’t strictly true.

Whilst Archbishop Gregory Aymond did visit the church and consecrate an altar, it turns out that this wasn’t actually the one that Travis Clark had his wicked little way with 41 year old Mindy Dixon and 23 year old Melissa Cheng, but instead a brand new one that had to be installed as members of the church couldn’t stand to even be in the presence of that one after knowing what had happened. The original altar was taken outside the church and burned away to nothingness, which seems like a bit of an extreme reaction to me but I suppose Christians do take their religion very seriously.

Here’s what Aymond had to say about the whole situation:

Regarding Travis, his obscene behaviour was deplorable, his desecration of the altar in the church was  demonic and I am infuriated by his actions.

When the details became clear we had the altar removed and burned. I will consecrate a new altar tomorrow.

It is a very tough time right now to be a Catholic in the Archdiocese of New Orleans to say the least.

See what I mean about them taking it seriously? Don’t think that Aymond could have used words that wee any more dramatic than the ones he used in the first half of that statement.

Anyway, the altar has now been burned and Clark and his accomplices have been charged with obscenity and are awaiting trial. I don’t know whether the Christian community of New Orleans is going to be satisfied with this as a resolution as it sounds like they’re completely mortified that it even happened in the first place, but it’s the best they’re gonna get I think. Deal with it.
