Another day, another celebrity who appeared to be a good guy turning out to be a paedophile.

This time it’s the turn of Jerry Harris, who appeared as one of the stars of Netflix’s six part documentary series about cheerleading, aptly named ‘Cheer’. The 21 year old has been taken into custody and charged with soliciting child pornography after an FBI investigation, although he is vehemently denying the accusations.

The criminal complaint alleges that Harris repeatedly enticed a 13 year old boy on social media to send him sexually explicit photographs and videos of himself. He was apparently fully aware of the boy’s age from the first time that they started speaking together.

Harris is currently in custody and his spokesperson has released the following statement:

We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager.

We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed.

Yeah I suppose Harris is listed as being nineteen when he was doing all this stuff, but I don’t really think that downgrades the fact that he was talking to a thirteen year old and getting him to send him nudes because that’s a pretty despicable move whatever age you are unless maybe you’re thirteen/fourteen but nice try there from his spokesperson to try and divert attention from what was really going on. I’m not really sure how they can be confident that the ‘true facts’ are going to come out and Harris will be cleared either because there has to be a lot of pretty hard evidence for someone to be arrested for something like this, but I guess we’ll see what happens in the coming days. Not looking good for Jerry right now though at all.
