The sheer wealth of talent that’s involved with Steve Carell’s new Netflix comedy ‘Space Force’ – ‘The Office’ creator Greg Daniels, Lisa Kudrow, John Malkovich, some people I haven’t heard of – kinda implies that it’s going to be really good, but the trailers and plot synopsis have left me thinking that it doesn’t really look like it’s going to be that good.

I’m hoping that this is going to change with the release of the first official trailer – I guess as opposed to the teaser trailers that we’ve been seeing before – so let’s dive in together and see what we think:

A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force.
Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.
That did actually look way better than I was expecting – the Hungry Hungry Hippos joke was good, and it kinda looked like Steve Carell and John Malkovich might have a Michael Scott and Toby kinda relationship – but I’m still not convinced. Will probably end up checking it out though.
