The horror movie genre has really experienced a resurgence in the last few years thank to movies like ‘Hereditary’, ‘Us’ and ‘Don’t Breathe’ and it looks like this is set to continue in 2020 with the release of ‘The Lodge’.

It’s probably more exciting if you just watch the trailer, although the official plot synopsis can be found underneath that as well:
A bone-chilling nightmare from the directors of Goodnight Mommy, The Lodge follows a family who retreat to their remote winter cabin over the holidays. When the father is forced to abruptly depart for work, he leaves his children, Aidan and Mia, in the care of his new girlfriend, Grace. Isolated and alone, a blizzard traps them inside the lodge as terrifying events summon specters from Grace’s past.
I mean I’m not really sure what was going on there either, but I’m getting the vibe that Grace goes mad and tries to kill their kids because of something to do with her past when she was in a mass suicide cult? That’s pretty much enough for me.
Sadly, there’s no official UK release date yet but I imagine that problem will be sorted out fairly soon after it’s appearance at Sundance Film Festival this weekend. Come on guys.
In the meantime, check out the trailer to ‘Gretel and Hansel’. Nightmare fuel.
