The other day we shared the video of the Brazilian gang leader who tried to escape from prison by dressing up as his daughter, only to get caught in the act and go viral in the process.

Not like they could do much after that except send him back to prison. Well unfortunately, Sky News has now confirmed that drug dealer Clauvino da Silva, 42, has been found dead in his cell after apparently hanging himself with a bed sheet.
Silva was a senior member of the Red Command, one of the most powerful crime cartels in Brazil that controlled drug trafficking in a large part of Rio. He was serving a 73-year sentence, and I guess the only thing worse than that is knowing you’ve become a laughing stock on the internet after being busted trying to escape prison in your daughter’s clothes.
His death is being described as an ’embarrassment’ for authorities, who initially took pleasure in preventing his escape and sending the video viral.
Real bummer considering the video was primed to become an all-time classic, but it just feels wrong laughing at it now. I mean the way he went from this:

… it’s what viral gold is made of. But now the story is forever tainted because they found him hanged to death in his cell. A sorry state of affairs for everybody involved.
For what a real prison break looks like, here’s El Chapo escaping from his cell like it’s the easiest thing in the world. No mask required.
