Tommy Robinson looks like he’s facing a jail sentence as he was once again found guilty of being in contempt of court on Friday for violating a gagging order at a trial in Leeds last year. The maximum sentence for this crime is two years, but it’s possible that he wouldn’t serve that long as he was already in prison for a bit last year for the crime and it’s possible that he won’t receive the full whack as well.

Either way, it seems like Robinson is worried about his sentence because he’s reached out to none other than Donald Trump himself in an effort to obtain political asylum in the US and avoid going to jail over here. Ahead of his sentencing on Thursday, Robinson appeared on the InfoWars channel (where else?) and said the following:

I beg Donald Trump, I beg the American government, to look at my case.

I need evacuation from this country because dark forces are at work.

I will be killed if I’m jailed because British prisons are controlled by Jihadi gangs.

This is a direct appeal on behalf of my family – we love the United States, I have no future here [in Britain].

The country has fallen.

I mean that sounds pretty over the top doesn’t it because literally none of what he’s saying is true, but I guess he’s that desperate to not go to jail that he’ll say anything.

It’s also not as a ridiculous an idea as you might think. InfoWars host Alex Jones promised to forward Robinson’s request to the White House, Donald Trump Jr has tweeted in support of Robinson in the past and he was invited to speak at a Republican convention last November – although he ultimately couldn’t attend due to visa issues regarding previous convictions for drug trafficking and using his friend’s passport to travel to New York. Kinda shot himself in the foot by doing that didn’t he?

Anyway, I guess this is going to be resolved one way or another in the next day or two so stay tuned to see what might happen to Tommy Robinson. Expect some twists and turns knowing that guy.
