I often find the concept of animals having sex bizarre in itself – like I know they mate of course but just the physical acting of them doing it seems very hard for me to visualise – so I hadn’t even really considered that they might get into the more extreme examples of sexual activity that us humans are known to get up to behind closed doors.

Turns out they do though and you can clearly see this below in what’s being described as a threesome between two male cheetahs and a female cheetah. It’s taken from a trip through the Kalahari Desert, in the Tswalu reserve, South Africa and 26 year old Juan Vente explained why it was such an extraordinary sight:

When we arrived at the scene, we heard a lot of shouting and screaming and it looked like they were fighting but it was two males in a coalition on the same female with both males trying to mate at the same time.

This was the reason for all the noise. When I realised what was busy happening my heart bounced out of my chest.

I had no words. I just told my guests to keep on filming because they will never see this again.

The cats ended up crawling into a bush hiding, as cheetahs are incredibly shy when mating and we didn’t want to bother them as, you need to respect nature.

I have friends in the industry that have been guiding for more than 15 years and they have never seen this happen.

As for me, it’s possibly the first and the last time that I will ever see something like this again.

The only time this is seen, is in captivity. I almost want to say that the chance of seeing a pangolin is better than to see this happening.

Not sure what a pangolin is there pal but happy to agree with you on this one. The footage itself is a little brutal as it seems fairly clear that the female isn’t enjoying it at all and it’s probably more the equivalent of a gang rape rather than a threesome, but at least she got out of it in the end and should be OK I suppose. Really got no idea actually, but Juan Vente didn’t seem that bothered so I’m hoping that that’s the case.
