Avocados are the fruit/vegetable (actually a fruit) choice of the millennial even though they’re goddamn expensive, but there’s now a way where you can get paid to eat them every day for six months.

You’re not actually gonna get paid that much – just $300 – but the avocados are provided so you’ll be saving money on them that way at least. The opportunity comes courtesy of Loma Linda University in California who are trying to end the debate over whether or not the avocado is actually a superfood or whether its high fat content disqualifies it from this food category.
Joan Sabaté who is heading up the study explained the deal:

The study will examine whether eating one avocado per day reduces visceral adipose fat in the abdomen.
In order to apply you must meet the following criteria:
1. Be 25 years of age or older
2. Be willing to either eat one avocado per day for six months or eat only two avocados per month for the same period
3. Measure at least 40 inches around the waist if they are male, or
4. Measure at least 35 inches around the waist if they are female
Sounds easy enough right – although it sounds like you’ve gotta be a bit hefty if you wanna make the cut. One group will eat an avocado every day for six months whilst the other will eat just two a month for the same period as a control group. You’ll then have a free MRI and health screening alongside monthly meetings with a dietician to determine the effect of the avocados on your body.
There are 250 places for this survey available at Loma Linda University and a further 250 at each of Penn State University, Tufts University and the University of California, so you probably need to live near one of those places to be accepted. Click here if you’re lucky enough and want to reply. BTW – the control group gets an extra 24 avocados at the end of the test so they’re not getting completely shafted compared to the main group.
