I’m not gonna lie when I say that Heinz tomato ketchup and ice cream are probably two of my favourite things in the world, but I definitely don’t think they should ever be combined under any circumstances. Except maybe when you have one in a meal and then one for dessert or something, that’s cool.

Definitely not how this ice cream parlour in Ireland have decided to mix them up though. In honour of Ed Sheeran – who else? (he has a tomato ketchup tattoo on his arm along with all the rest of his crappy tattoos, don’t you know?) – Gelati Enniscrone & Ballina have decided to make an ice cream with real tomato ketchup and then squirt even more real tomato ketchup on top of it as a sauce.

It looks completely bizarre and you can see the process of its manufacture below:

Wow. That looked really rank didn’t it. Like I’m watching it thinking about how it would taste and then when they start pouring the ketchup on the top of the ice cream I just get this feeling in the back of my throat like someone is trying to waterboard me with ketchup. It’s supposed to be a condiment, not the main event, you know? Makes me want to puke just thinking about it.

UPDATE: someone in the office just told me that their children would absolutely buzz off this so maybe I’m just being completely weird about it and this is actually a good idea. Feel free to let me know what you think about it.
