The world got pretty excited a couple of weeks ago when Tom Cruise revealed that a sequel to Top Gun was finally happening about 30 years after the original.

Ever since then, every interview that Cruise has done has involved the presenter fishing around for any details about the upcoming movie that they can get, and – being the expert that he is – Tom has excellently drip fed the info with each and every one. The latest hot tip came from his interview with Access Hollywood, where he revealed the name of the second movie as well as a couple of other details about it:
Top Gun: Maverick then eh? It certainly sounds a lot cleaner than Top Gun 2 I suppose and a lot cooler. Just a shame it’s probably going to be a couple of years before we can even see a trailer to it. Expect a lot of these updates until the summer of 2019.
