We’re over in Plymouth this week, where a 40-year-old woman and her 11-year-old niece had to be rescued by firefighters after getting trapped in the baby swings at their local park.

Layla Roberts was the first to get stuck, and when she couldn’t get out, her aunt Mel Ellis climbed in to demonstrate how to get out. This didn’t quite go to plan, as she too ended up lodged in the swing.
Predictably, a crowd gathered at the St Levan Park as the two attempted and failed to free themselves. After an hour, they admitted defeat and Mel had to call the emergency services. She said:
I’ve recently put on weight but I didn’t think it was that much.
It’s a wake-up call. I felt like a total idiot.
Don’t worry Mel – we’ve all been in embarrassing situations before. Of course, getting stuck in a kiddy swing while trying to demonstrate how not to get stuck in a kiddy swing is probably up there as one of the most humiliating, but it’s still not the worst in the world. At least they brightened up the fire brigade’s day.
