Dr. Dre is well known as an icon of hip hop and one of the most successful businessmen in that industry of all time, but most of his narrative is based upon his life as a musician, rather than the brains behind ‘Beats By Dre’. This new documentary from HBO seeks to change that.

‘The Defiant Ones’ tells the story of Dre and Jimmy Iovine – the co founder of Interscope Records and the man Dre decided to start ‘Beats By Dre’ with back in 2006 – and how they both became billionaires. It’s a four part series on HBO and it looks like no expense has been spared in making it a completely sick documentary. That’s pretty big time. I’m slightly sceptical about how a documentary about Dr. Dre developing some headphones and becoming a billionaire is going to be as captivating as ‘Straight Outta Compton’, but with HBO and all this talent on board, I’m fairly sure they’re going to make a good go of it. In fact I know it’s going to rule. Not long to wait either.
