Netflix is well renowned for curating some of the best documentaries out there, and it looks like they’ve come up with another peach in Oklahoma City.

In case you’re unaware, the United States experienced their greatest act of domestic terrorism on April 19th, 1995 when Timothy McVeigh drove five-ton fertiliser bomb in his truck and parked it in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City. A few minutes later 168 people were dead and 675 were injured.

Barak Goodman examines the character of McVeigh in his documentary and paints a pretty scary picture that is only too relevant in the current climate of Trump’s America. McVeigh is painted as, “the product of a far-right subculture that looked on the U.S. federal government as one of the most dangerous forces on the face of the Earth”, rather than the typical delusional loner that he has been painted as previously:

Looks intense right? Given recent events in America, the parallels are only too clear with 2017 – hopefully we won’t have to face anything like this in the near future and can learn the lessons of this event before it’s too late.

For more awesome Netflix documentaries, check out The Seven Five which is pretty much just a real life version of Goodfellas. Gangster.
