It’s no secret that Donald Trump is the king of off-the-cuff and controversial comments, but it feels as though people are beginning to nit-pick at his language just a little bit.

Here’s what Trump actually said:

Everybody knows exactly what happened. What I do is I authorise my military. We have the greatest military in the world and they’ve done a job as usual. So we have given them total authorisation.

The phrase “my military” has rubbed people up the wrong way who did not appreciate his use of the possessive pronoun.

Leon Panetta, former defense secretary and CIA director under Barack Obama, says:

When it comes to the military, the military belongs to the country. Our defense system belongs to the country. And it’s not the president’s military, it’s the military of the United States of America.

I don’t really see why this is an issue. I mean technically Donald Trump is the commander-in-chief, so it kinda is his military. He’s going to get blamed if the military do anything wrong so it’s fair enough if he refers to them as “my military”. Just seems like he says enough dumb things to get wound up over without having to force outrage over some comment that isn’t even really that bad.

At least complain about something worthwhile… like the fact he knows more about chocolate cake than the countries he’s bombing.
