So I don’t know if any of you heard, but artist and musician Flying Lotus (real name Steve Ellison) has made his first movie and by the looks of things, it’s absolutely fucking horrific.

‘Kuso’ premiered at Sundance Film Festival over the weekend and in a report from The Verge, it is, “the grossest movie ever made.” So much so that a “large chunk” of the crowd left early and there was a consistent stream of walkouts right up until the film’s final scenes. Blimey. One reviewer wrote:
Some gross-out films are one-note, but ‘Kuso’ finds new ways to test viewers’ fortitude.
Some folks stuck around after a woman chewed on concrete until her teeth disintegrated, but still peaced out when an alien creature force-yanked a foetus from another woman’s womb (accompanied by a Mortal Kombat sound clip ‘Get over here!’) then smoked the tiny corpse.
The movie is described as a semi-connected series of short films, which look at the lives of mutated men, women and children who are victims of a Los Angeles earthquake.
The music features Flying Lotus himself, as well as Aphex Twin, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat and Brandon Coleman. Here’s the official trailer:
Other gruesome scenes include a man having sex with a talking boil on a woman’s neck, genital mutilation and a doctor who keeps a medicinal cockroach in his anus. Blimey – I imagine this is what it would be like if Takashi Miike and Lars von Trier ever hooked up to make a film.
Well I don’t know about you, but I can’t WAIT to see this film. Flying Lotus himself recommends that you, “watch it with someone you hate.” That shouldn’t be too hard to arrange.
