Everyone is outraged when dickheads post their photos on social media of how they’re on supervised safari hunts and have killed wild animals for no reason other than the fact they think it makes them manly or tough and they can mount them on their mantelpiece to show off to people. To be honest, I generally agree with them – it’s fucking lame and there’s absolutely no way it’s even slightly cool, useful, impressive or productive.

It’s probably even worse when the guy doing the hunting is a vet by profession, because hasn’t this guy taken some kind of oath to look after animals rather than just going around blowing their brains out? Nevertheless, this didn’t deter 55 year old Luciano Ponzetto from indulging in his hobby and posting images of him alongside his trophy kills all over the internet, and neither did the numerous death threats and hate mail he received because of it.

Karma might just have caught up with Ponzetto though, because he actually fell 100 foot to his death during a recent hunt in the hills above Turin. He was hunting birds and slipped on some ice and dropped into the Colle delle Oche ravine, absolutely destroying himself in the process. Here’s what local police said:

We were called by the mountain rescue services who had been alerted to the incident by someone who was out with him.

His body was recovered by helicopter and taken to a local hospital.

It looks like he slipped and fell when he was out hunting. He died instantly and there was nothing that could be done.

What a way to go – almost ironic in a sense. Despite the fact that this guy did hunt animals for sport, I’m sure there were a lot of good things about him too and he probably saved a bunch in his profession as a vet, so RIP dude. Maybe try and stop killing living creatures for fun in the next life though.
