It’s been a phenomenally successful year for the UFC and that’s mostly been down to the two Conor McGregor Vs. Nate Diaz fights which have been absolute wars and have smashed PPV buy rates without disappointing the fans either. So it’ll probably come as a surprise that UFC president Dana White isn’t interested in a third fight between the pair.

Speaking in an interview with Fox Sports, White had the following to say (you can see the whole interview below but here are the relevant parts):

You can’t do three.

Conor ends up saying ‘let’s do this Nate Diaz thing’ and dude, he’s two weight classes heavier than you and he doesn’t care. So we do the fight.

Conor has to try to weigh 168 when they’re weighing in at 170. The night of the fight, Diaz comes in at 190. Now Conor McGregor is a 45, 55 pound guy and if you look at the wars he’s had with Diaz, you can only have so many of those wars in your career.

It doesn’t make sense. That’s why we have weight classes.

It ended up being an amazing fight, but you don’t want to keep doing that.

I don’t know. 1-1’s good, they shouldn’t have fought in the first place. We’ll see what happens.

Well, I guess what he’s saying does make complete sense as he is the president of the UFC after all, but you do have to remember that Nate Diaz normally fights at 155 and the first fight was only at 170 because he was out of shape and couldn’t cut the weight in time.

But still, he’s got a fair point about it that does make sense, but does anyone believe that we’re not going to see McGregor Diaz III some time down the road? Even if it’s when they’re old and grey like when Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock decided to fight each other again a couple of years ago. What a waste of time that was.
