Domino’s have announced that they’re trialling pizza delivery by drone. If it all goes well and they roll out this service across the world, this could be an absolute game changer. No more having to feel the ultimate shame when you’re hungover, faced with a fresh-faced delivery guy.

Domino’s started the trial this week in Auckland, New Zealand, and the branch has said that it plans to launch the regular drone service in the country later this year. Fingers crossed it makes it way over here too.

Domino’s Chief Executive Officer Don Meij said:
We’ve always said that it doesn’t make sense to have a 2-tonne machine delivering a 2-kilogram order.
This isn’t the first drone service to be launched in New Zealand either. Amazon and Google already make deliveries via drone too.
Although this seems like an absolutely solid plan, Philip Solaris, director of another drone company, X-craft Enterprises, said that Domino’s would be held back by a rule requiring drones to be kept in sight at all times.
I can’t truly see how commercially viable that idea is because you would have to literally have somebody walking along to keep it in the line of sight, watching it at all times.
What a killjoy. I’m going to ignore his comments and say that this is a sick idea and drone pizza deliveries should be rolled out in every country across the world. It’s an absolute stoner’s dream.
Combine that with the zero click Domino’s pizza delivery app and you will soon be able to order pizza without having to interact will one single human being. Perfect.
