Well now you don’t need to wonder, as Colonel Harland Sanders’ nephew Joe Ledington has unveiled the original handwritten recipe that he got from a family scrapbook.
I’m gonna throw this one out there – he sounds like a bit of a traitor. That recipe has been under lock and key since the 40s and now this guy whacks it out to get a bit of tabloid attention. Not that we’re complaining though.
Ledington said that the recipe was scribbled down on the back of Colonel Sanders’ will. It includes precise measurements of loads of different herbs and spices:
Ledington said:
That is the original 11 herbs and spices that were supposed to be so secretive.
A KFC spokesman added:
In the 1940’s, Colonel Sanders developed the original recipe chicken to be sold at his gas station diner.
At the time, the recipe was written above the door so anyone could have read it.
But today, we go to great lengths to protect such a sacred blend of herbs and spices.
In fact, the recipe ranks among America’s most valuable trade secrets.
Lots of people through the years have claimed to discover or figure out the secret recipe but no one’s ever been right.
Well, I guess it’s down to us to see if this dude is right. If you can be bothered to turn your kitchen into an oil den, then why not get out the deep fat fryer and try to make your own KFC chicken using the recipe above?
Of course, you’re going to need some chickens who have been through some terrible shit because we all know KFC just don’t taste the same without them.
