In an effort to improve pizza as much as possible, Pizza Hut have been known to try out a few wacky gimmicks like the recent bacon stuffed crust, but this one seems completely weird and unnecessary.

It’s known as a beer infused crust and amazingly, it’s actually going to be available in England for once. In fact, only one store in the world is trying it out and it’s in London – the Finchley Lido Hut to be specific.
Apparently, if you go to a Pizza Hut server on Friday of this week and use the secret phrase ‘I like it hop’ then you’ll be served a pizza that uses craft beer in the dough. It will also be free whilst stocks last so maybe it’s an idea to get down to Finchley this Friday night?
There are two different flavours to choose from which have been picked to deliberately compliment the idea of a beer infused base – The Steak Feast and The American Hot. Mmmmm?
Kathryn Austin, Pizza Hut’s director of marketing, explained the idea:
We know that craft beers are really popular right now and we’re celebrating this not just by adding craft beers to our menus, but also by adding this to our pizza dough.
We also know that for many of our customers nothing beats enjoying their favourite pizza with an ice-cold beer, so we thought this would be the perfect culinary union.
It took our team many hours to perfect the recipes and flavour combinations, but all of their hard work definitely paid off as we’re thrilled with the results and can’t wait for our customers to try them.
We’re proud to be the first chain in the UK to trial a beer-infused dough base, and look forward to hopefully rolling these out nationwide if they prove popular.

Well I suppose she’s right that craft beer really has taken off and there’s nothing better than an ice cold beer and a pizza, but do the two really need to be combined in the dough? Is that actually going to achieve anything or just taste really weird? Do you get another beer to go with your pizza still or not?
Quite a few questions here but I suppose it’s an interesting idea. I’m more stoked that one of these weird menu items is actually coming to the UK, as it seems like the first time in forever anything like that has happened. Might just have to go and check it out.
Kinda wish we were trying the tater tot crust though – of course that was only available in New Zealand though.
