Man Accidentally Buys Yak Off The Internet Whilst High On Sleeping Pills

It probably completely sucks when you have insomnia and can’t sleep, but it’s possibly slightly worse if you end up taking sleeping pills to try and help you out but instead they make you buy a yak off the internet for $3000.

Unbelievably this is what happened to a ‘friend of a friend’ of some Redditor, who posted the story and information for everyone to see. Apparently the guy was browsing around on the internet late at night waiting for the pills to kick in, when he stumbled across a site selling yaks and decided to indulge.

Quite why the fact he was on sleeping pills is relevant to this story is beyond me, but he was and he ended up ordering the yak – here’s the proof of it:

Fortunately for the guy, even though the transaction seemed to have gone through he somehow came to his senses (I guess the crazy effect the sleeping pills were having on him wore off or something?) and managed to phone his card company and cancel the transaction. Phew.

Here’s what he posted on Facebook about it afterwards:

Oh I’m sure you would’ve all liked for me to just let them deliver it, but a) My apartment complex would boot my ass on to the street. The only thing worse than being homeless is being a homeless yak owner. b) My beagle Lucy would lose her motherfucking mind. c) I’m an astrophysicist, not Baron Moneybags Von Richfuck so I can’t just spend $3,000 on a yak to amuse the Internet.

Hmmm. It kind of seems like that’s exactly what he did – except the part where he actually bought the yak. Surely there’s no way that sleeping pills would compel you to do something like this?

It seems to me that he was probably a bit fried from being up so late and thought it would be really funny to pretend he bought a yak because he was so wired and went about creating the elaborate hoax. He was probably dialling his credit card company as soon as he hit confirm.

I suppose when you’re up all night though you’ve gotta do something to amuse yourself, and in fairness it seems like a lot of people have laughed from this story, so fair enough.
