A Minnesota company has invented a handgun that folds up to look just like a smartphone. What could possibly go wrong, right?

The .380-caliber pistol, called Ideal Conceal, will be available later this year and “virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight”.
In locked position, the two-shot plastic gun with metal core can be hidden in your pocket like a real phone, but “with one click of the safety it opens and is ready to fire”.
Its creator, Kirk Kjellberg, says the idea came to him after he attracted attention for carrying a concealed weapon in a restaurant:
A boy spotted me in the restaurant and said loudly, ‘Mommy, Mommy, that guy’s got a gun!’ And then pretty much the whole restaurant stared at me.

And so he decided to make a gun that wouldn’t be as easy to notice. He says the Ideal Conceal is the same size as his Galaxy S7 phone with a protective case on it — about 3 x 5 inches.
Call me crazy but I’ve got a feeling this is a really, really bad idea. Just seems like the sort of thing that will make it easier for people with guns to kill people? Just my gut feeling. Horrible idea in theory, even worse in execution. I mean let’s literally take the most dangerous invention known to man and make it near-impossible to detect and then sell it in the shops. Good one America, keep doing your thing.
P.S. That’s not to say we can’t enjoy this video of an American girl with the hottest accent ever firing her guns.
