Adam Johnson’s Family Conned Out Of £170K By ‘Former MI6 Agent’ Who Said He Could Clear His Name

Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse for Adam Johnson, it turns out his family have been swindled out of £170K by a ‘former MI6 agent’ who claimed he had evidence that would clear him of child sex charges.

The Johnson family made a bunch of payments to a man who said he’d ensure Johnson goes free.

Well it turns out they weren’t dealing with a ‘former MI6 agent’ at all, but rather one of England’s most notorious con artists, Mark Hill-Wood.

They realised something wasn’t quite right when this so-called evidence failed to materialise and Johnson was found guilty and sentenced to 6 years.

Hill-Wood claims he spent 25 years working for GCHQ and MI6, when in reality he runs his scam business ‘FullProof Intelligence’ from a postal box in the City of London. It appears the Johnsons fell for a professionally-produced website selling his services.

Police are looking into the payments made from Adam Johnson Promotions Ltd, the first of which (£10,000) was paid just days after Johnson was first arrested.

A former associate of Hill-Wood says:

He was always boasting about the work he was doing for Adam Johnson.

The total sum of £170K is less than three weeks’ wages Johnson was earning at Sunderland, but it’s obviously still a hefty sum. Hill-Wood is already under investigation for fraud offences he committed in October 2014, so I guess this provides police with some extra ammunition, so to speak. I’m not sure what evidence Johnson’s family thought this guy could possibly find that would categorically disprove Johnson performed a sexual act on a 15-year-old schoolgirl, but I guess you keep the faith when it’s your own flesh and blood involved.
