Nate Diaz isn’t happy that even though he managed to make Conor McGregor tap out a couple of weeks ago, people are still talking about McGregor like he’s the king of the UFC. Here’s what he had to say about it in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto:

I feel like, honest, I feel like the UFC wants to weed me the f**k out of this position.

I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. Sorry.

I feel like a lot of people are coming at me now.

I see them making a lot of excuses for him, and I think it’s kind of ridiculous.

I don’t think it’s just the UFC. It’s everybody. People are saying, ‘Oh, [McGregor] is great, he’s accepted the loss so well.

If I would have lost, people would be saying, ‘piece of sh*t shouldn’t have accepted the fight.’

I don’t mean to be bitter, but there are a lot of excuses being made for this guy.

He’s talking about winning the first round. There are five rounds in a fight. Who gives a sh*t if you won a round? You lost.

Having said that though, Diaz doesn’t blame McGregor for tapping out instead of passing out like Holly Holm did earlier in the night. Simply put, Diaz feels like he had no option:

If you’ve got to tap out, you’ve got to tap out. I think Holly, she thought she was maybe going to get out. She had already gotten out of one and she thought, ‘I’m not quitting.’

McGregor, he was f**king done. All the way done. It’s all right.

He had to tap out because there was no getting out of that. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with tapping out.

It’s a fight against the best fighters in the world; you’ve got to tap to that. You ain’t getting out of it.

You can tap out, or you can go to sleep. You tap out if you’re caught. The thing is, that’s what I think is – don’t get caught.

So those are the slightly confused thoughts of Nate Diaz – don’t diss Conor McGregor for tapping out, but quit making excuses for him tapping out. Got it.
