The jury has been sent out to consider its verdict on Adam Johnson after Judge Jonathan Rose finished summing up the evidence at the end of the 13-day trial.

He even worked in a football-related pun, which I’m sure Johnson 100% appreciated:
I can only accept unanimous verdicts in this case. 12-0 is the only possible score.
This means all 12 jurors must agree on the verdict — guilty or not guilty, kiddy fiddler or not a kiddy fiddler.

The judge also reminded them of the evidence Johnson’s ex Stacey Flounders, who dumped him earlier in the week, had given:
She told you that she suspected her boyfriend was cheating on her but had no proof. She was of course taken by surprise when Mr Johnson was arrested.
Naturally she wanted to know what had been going on. She said Mr Johnson was honest with her and told her about the girl and about a number of other women.
Meanwhile, Johnson has said that he doesn’t think signing the sex offenders register will end his career, and denied that he delayed a guilty plea so that he could carry on earning £60,000 a week at Sunderland (who have since sacked him).
He has admitted in court that he was sexually attracted to the 15-year-old, and that it was his “natural reaction” to ask her for a naked photo after she sent him a Snapchat of herself in a bikini and flirted with him on WhatsApp.
It’s been about an hour or so since the jury were sent out to decide their verdict, so we’ll bring you the big update when it arrives. Not looking too great for Johnson, that’s for sure – especially when he comes out with bizarre excuses like this for why he Googled “age of consent” on his phone.
