Buckingham Palace. Tower Bridge. Nelson’s Column. Famous landmarks such as these may feature on the itinerary for most visitors to London, but for urban explorers, the capital’s hidden depths and buried history are far more appealing.

These shots were taken by travel photographer Darmon Richter, from unlikely vantage points above and below the city. The locations range from Victorian-era tunnels now repurposed as cable runs for gas and fibre optics, to some aerial photography at the business end of a construction crane.
