Big topic over the last few weeks has been the Oscars racism row — with a bunch of actors planning to boycott the event this year in protest against the lack of ethnic diversity in the movie industry. Way to ruin Leo’s big moment, guys.

Anyway, Meryl Streep was sat at a press conference at the Berlin film festival this week when she was asked for her own thoughts on Hollywood’s lack of diversity.
Here’s what she said:
I’ve played a lot of different people from a lot of different cultures. There is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture, and after all we’re all from Africa originally. Berliners, we’re all Africans really.

Well there you have it. No need to cry about racism anymore. Meryl Streep just put an end to it once and for all. Oh what, Meryl Streep is a privileged old white lady? Nope — Meryl Streep is African through-and-through. Started out in Africa just like we all started out in Africa. You can’t really say the Oscars are racist if the whole world is from Africa, can you?
P.S. Is what Meryl Streep’s saying actually true? Did we all originate in Africa? That would explain how fast I can run but still, seems like it might be untrue. How about Chinese people? Did they originate in Africa? I guess if Meryl Streep says so then it must be true.
P.P.S. Whoever’s boycotting the Oscars this year is missing out on some seriously sweet goody bags.
