It might only be a year since Stephen Hawking said we’ve got 1000 years to escape earth, but he’s now changed his mind and said there’s a real possibility the human race would be wiped out in the next 100 YEARS, and it would all be our own fault.

According to Hawking, humanity faces “dangerous scenarios of our own making” during the next century, including nuclear war, global warming and genetically-engineered viruses.
He told the Radio Times that further progress in science and technology will actually increase the risk:
We are not going to stop making progress, or reverse it, so we must [recognise] the dangers and control them.
His comments come days before he gives this year’s BBC Reith Lectures, which will explore his latest research into black holes.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m getting a little sick and tired of Stephen Hawking’s predictions. It’s always doom and gloom with this guy. OK he might be the smartest man in the universe and he might be making some excellent points, but how about dropping something positive on us for a change? How about a shout out for the scientists and researchers behind some of the more incredible achievements and breakthroughs, particularly in the world of medicine and science, in recent years?
But no, all Stephen Hawking wants to talk about is how fucked up the world is and how it’s all our fault. How things are only going to get worse for our kids and our kids’ kids. We know that already Stephen — no need to keep reminding us all the time. It’s extra terrifying having to listen to it considering it’s coming from the smartest man in the world.
P.S. Remember the time he said women are “the most intriguing mystery in the universe“? Classic.
