In case you were too caught up with the insane UK Lottery rollover to notice, the US has its own rollover going on which reached $949 million (£660 million) on Saturday.

The employees at Grissini’s Restaurant in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey pooled their money together and bought $210 worth of tickets. They went absolutely bat shit when the numbers were read out on Saturday as they believed they had all become millionaires (all 42 of them).
However, in a gut-wrenching twist of fate, they then realised they’d mistakenly compared Wednesday’s winning numbers to their Saturday ticket. Brutal.

It was like getting punched in the stomach.
It turns out his friend texted him the Powerball results, not realising the website hadn’t been updated yet, and was still showing Wednesday’s combination.
I picked up my phone and start calling out the numbers to everyone here. All the numbers matched our tickets. Then pandemonium hit. There was just so much joy, and I can’t put into words the feelings of euphoria that we all felt.
When we found out it was like a balloon deflating. For 20 minutes it was real. It’s a shame we didn’t win, but I wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything.

What an absolute kick to the balls that must’ve been. My heart dropped watching that video and I don’t even know any of these guys from Adam. That’s why whenever someone buys you a scratch card Lottery ticket like you see in those viral videos you need to just automatically assume it’s fake. There’s no way I’m letting my guard down for even a second so some arsehole can film me thinking I’ve become a multi-millionaire and then break my heart into a million pieces.
These guys though? There’s no way you can prepare for something like that, much less recover. How can you possibly go back into work the next day after being convinced you won £660 million on the lottery? It’s just not possible.
P.S. This guy saying he “wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything” — erm, would you trade it for £660 million? Moron.
