Peter Dench is an English photographer who has travelled to various regions of the Earth and photographed some pretty fascinating places. But, one of his best (well, weirdest / funniest) collections is his project that charts the alcohol use of the British public. It’s called Alcohol & England (A&E).
Don’t get me wrong, England and the rest of the British Isles certainly aren’t alone in their love of booze, but we do do it rather spectacularly.
Dench followed posh people getting drunk, poor people who are pretending to be posh getting drunk and poor people getting drunk. That’s basically the entirety of Britain covered off nicely.
I don’t think, for me, there’s anything funnier than a middle-aged woman wearing her best dress and attempting to look classy when she is totally off her chops, just milliseconds away from a spew. People who don’t normally drink in the day should remember that they are going to get smashed pretty quick. It’s not the “bubbles”, it’s the fact that you’ve banged down two bottles before 3pm.
Have a look at these pictures over the next few slides. They ramble from full on jokes, to pretty bleak and then straight through ultra-embarrassing via terrifying. Have a gander:

Well there you have it – I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
