Rose McGowan has gone in hard on Caitlyn Jenner after her acceptance speech for her Woman Of The Year award. In it, Caitlyn said that ‘the hardest thing about being a woman is knowing what to wear’ which absolutely set Rose off on one.
She wrote the following in a Facebook post, which has since been deleted:
Caitlyn Jenner you do not understand what being a woman is about at all.
You want to be a woman and stand with us- well learn us.
We are more than deciding what to wear.
We are more than the stereotypes foisted upon us by people like you.
You’re a woman now? Well f–king learn that we have had a VERY different experience than your life of male privilege.
Woman of the year? No, not until you wake up and join the fight.
Being a woman comes with a lot of baggage. The weight of unequal history.
You’d do well to learn it. You’d do well to wake up.
Woman of the year? Not by a long f–king shot.
Wow. Talk about going for it eh? She also posted several graphic memes featuring the quote that included a woman being raped, being followed home late at night and in the hospital giving birth. There was also one of O.J. Simpson’s late wife Nicole Brown Simpson with bruises all over her body. She was best friends with Kris Jenner – Caitlyn’s wife when she was formerly known as Bruce – so obviously that was extra pointed.

Rose was forced to delete this status after a transgender backlash, and added the following amendment afterwards:
Let me amend this by saying I’m happy for what she’s doing visibility wise for the trans community, and I’m happy she’s living her truth, but comments like hers have consequences for other women.
How we are perceived, what our values are, and leads to more stereotyping. If you know you are going to be speaking to media about being a woman, maybe come to understand our struggles.
Hmmm – this is a bit of a tough one. On the one hand, Rose McGowan definitely has a point with what she’s saying, but on the other it definitely seems like she’s overreacted to an offhand comment made at an awards ceremony when Caitlyn Jenner was probably only trying to act cute.
Rose is right though that Caitlyn has a responsibility to women now she’s in the middle of the public eye, so maybe she does need to re-evaluate what she’s saying at events like these in the future. Not sure if there was a need for that huge rant though – Caitlyn is probably already dealing with enough now as it is being a spokesperson for the transgender community that she doesn’t need to be called out by feminists too over one throwaway line.
This includes that fact that she had to deal with the quite frankly ridiculous Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume earlier this year.
