We’ve all seen all of the stuff, haven’t we? We’ve all been alive in this world to see the things Shia’s brought to the table, right?

I don’t need to remind you about the nightclub brawls, the South London pub debacles, the Eric Cantona quotes, the plagiarism, the brown bag thing, #IMSORRY and his general flip-flopping on being an actor/famous among countless other things do I?

I’m sure I don’t, and if somehow you’ve missed it all then just check out this photograph below as it pretty much sums his whole outlook on life up:

I’ve been eager not to judge the way he’s been acting over the last few years: the world’s a scary place and it’s understandable why he might wanna shake it loose by freaking it out.

Let’s get it right, this is no longer the kid who turned Even Stevens into one of the most banging kids’ TV shows of all time. I always felt that show’s quality was mainly down to his unique mature-for-his age humour and that he really should be recognised for his contribution to it.

Now though, that young boy has grown into a man, and with his performance art it’s been pretty clear for a while that he dislikes celebrity and the modern media. Or rather, he’s just going for the performance art vibe and doesn’t care who knows it.

By throwing out a ‘#metamarathon’ run around a stadium here, a chance to stare at him in an intimate setting there, and an ultra motivational speech over there, he’s kept everyone guessing as to what his motives are – whilst people in the media either dismiss him as ill, irrelevant or genius. Usually it’s some mixture of all three.

Shia also busted out some interpretive dance for the video of Sia’s ‘Elastic Heart” alongside 12-year-old Maddie Ziegler, and I’d have to say it’s nothing if not emotive.  Of course that got called out too though for being a bit weird due to Maddie’s age, which Shia had of course already anticipated and was quick to rebuff.

You see, he’s playing us – us being the world – like a fiddle. He’s getting weird and we’re getting weirded out.

Make what you will of Shia, love him or hate him, he’s at it again. That’s because right now, he’s sitting in the Angelika Film Center on Houston Street, New York, watching all of his films consecutively in reverse chronological order. Admission is free, so if you’re nearby, get in on the experience.

The event, entitled #ALLMYMOVIES, is taking place over three days, 24 hours a day. It all started midday Tuesday with his most recent film, Man Down (2015), and it will end with the 1998 TV movie Breakfast with Einstein (1998).
