The selfie world champion is set to be crowned this weekend
In what is surely an omen for the impending doom of humanity, the first ever Selfie World Championship takes place this weekend in London. Hosted and judged by ‘Queen of Selfies’ Karen Danczuk (me neither), the event will see contestants battle it out over six different disciplines to find the overall champion, who will take home a cool £1,000 and a golden selfie stick.
There are no qualifying rounds or indeed any kind of requirement for entering — the first 30 people to register will be automatically picked as contestants. So essentially the day will most likely be the 30 weirdest and most butters people in the UK, standing around taking pictures of themselves for someone you’ve never heard of to judge. You can experience all of this for the meagre sum of £7 and your last remaining shreds of dignity.

Shockingly there are still tickets available for this once-in-a-lifetime event, so if you haven’t got any weekend plans or shame then this could be for you. Let’s just hope they have their health and safety on point…
