You probably saw the video of Ronnie Pickering shouting at a motorcyclist yesterday and challenging him to a fight because it was all over the internet and one of our most popular posts yesterday. If you haven’t then click on that link now because it’s an absolute classic.
To be fair to Ronnie Pickering though, he has actually come out now and apologised and given his side of the story, whereas he could have quite easily skulked away and not brought anymore attention on himself. Although I do think that people will be saying ‘I’m Ronnie Pickering’ for a long time after the video went viral because it’s just such a great line.
Here’s what he had to say:
I’d like to apologise for my outburst.
He really got to me. I am not an aggressive guy.
I was on my way home from Asda in Bilton.
I heard a tap, which I thought was the driver using his boot to hit my car.
I don’t know why he did this. He overtook a load of cars that was queueing.
He encroached into my safety gap. I was wanting to turn right, but he wouldn’t go.
I felt as though he was baiting me.

To be really honest, I was out of order.
It was an over-reaction. If you look at the video, there’s no doubting that it looks bad. But you have to understand that this was extreme provocation.
Because of this muppet I have been painted out to be some kind of a monster all over the world.
But that just is not me. I am an easy-going guy who does not go around bothering people.
I wanted to give him a severe b********* for the manner I believed he was riding.
I would like to talk to him and just ask him what it was all about.
This isn’t the first video this rider has posted to the internet.
Well like I said, fair play to the guy for coming out and trying to explain himself, but the fact of the matter is way more people are going to see that video than read this, so the name Ronnie Pickering will probably remain synonymous with acting like total douche-bag on the roads. At least when he asks someone again they’ll know who he is this time though.
A neighbour named Peter Jackson – presumably not the Lord Of The Rings director – also came out and stuck up for Ronnie, saying the following:
Ronnie is a sound bloke. You won’t find anyone around here saying a bad word about him.
Well yeah, that might be true up in Hull but as for the rest of the country, I’m sure they won’t be forgetting Ronnie Pickering’s name any time soon. And that’s not because he came across as a sound bloke, much like this road rage knob who pulled out a gun on a bunch of teenagers once.
